Process
Greetings Doctor! You are a famous scientist who has just discovered a new comet. You will need to communicate this information to the public. You'll need to prepare, including such information as when and where the comet will be visualized. A picture wouldn't hurt either. Follow the steps below to prepare the world for your new discovery. When you are done, you will work with a partner and develop a press release - either a Podcast, PowerPoint or statement in MS Word. You will each play two roles - one as scientist and the other as reporter. You should use the same delivery method for both comets - ie., two Podcasts, two PowerPoints, etc. If you select the Podcast, take turns interviewing each other. If you both select the PowerPoint presentation or MS Word news release, then you will write about the other person's comet.

Use the Google Search Box below to target your research:
STEP 2 - Create your comet. Use KidPix or any other Paintbrush program. Remember to label the three major parts. Use the Export feature to create a JPEG file (File....Export in KidPix).
STEP 3 - Have your teacher look over both pieces before you create your press release.
STEP 4 - Grab your teammate and decide how you would like to make the world aware of your new discovery. You can use a Podcast (for a news outlet website like CNN or Foxnews), a Power Point presentation (for a scientific conference), or a Press release (in MS Word). Here is some help:
STEP 5 - When you and your teammate are happy with your press releases, have a teacher review your work.
